Energy Psychology

Energy psychology theory suggests that psychological problems are a reflection of disturbed bio-energetic patterns within the mind-body system. To address these issues, practitioners combine cognitive interventions simultaneously with the stimulation of one or more of the human bio-energy systems such as meridians (Chinese medicine) and chakras (Aruvedic medicine). One therapeutic approach, the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), uses elements of cognitive therapy and exposure therapy, and combines them with acupressure in the form of tapping on 12 acupuncture points. Over 20 clinical trials published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, PTSD, pain, and other problems.

Another approach of energy psychology is the balancing of chakra energy. The chakras are considered the body’s entry point of life energy. The function of the chakras is to draw in energy to keep the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health of the body in balance. Disturbance in the chakras can result in physical problems as well as emotional and mental issues. By bringing the chakra energy into balance, one can improve physical as well as emotional health.
